A new article by our department faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Ferit Belder, has been published in the international peer-reviewed journal Political Science.
The article examines the formation of one of the most right-wing government coalitions in the history of Israel under the leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu following the elections held between 2019 and 2022. It focuses particularly on the far-right components of the coalition and their role within the evolving Israeli political landscape.
Drawing on social media data from the 2021 and 2022 election campaigns of Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, the study comparatively analyzes their discourses on key themes such as legitimacy, sovereignty, and the judiciary. The article highlights both shared and divergent motivations within the far-right alliance and contributes to ongoing debates on Israeli politics.
