Prof. Dr. Meral Balcı, faculty member of our Department, delivered the lecture titled "Multinational Corporations in the Context of Political Economy", hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Tunisia in cooperation with Marmara University. The event took place at the Embassy's Conference Hall with the participation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Tunisia, Ahmet Misbah Demircan, embassy officials, representatives of Turkish institutions and organizations in Tunisia, and invited guests.
During the lecture, Prof. Dr. Balcı emphasized that multinational corporations have become influential actors not only in the global economy but also in shaping international politics. She highlighted the close relationship between politics and economics and discussed the importance of legal, economic, and cultural factors in international investment decisions. She also underlined that adapting to local conditions is a key determinant of successful global investment strategies.
The lecture further addressed Africa's growing investment potential and the strategic importance of strengthening the presence of Turkish companies across the continent. Participants also explored the historical development of multinational corporations, their role in the global economy, and contemporary international investment strategies.
